About
The society encompasses the local villages of the Windrush Valley and at present has 69 members. Formed to encourage the preservation of local history and artefacts. Monthly meetings are arranged with informed speakers on local historical topics.
Talks are open to all, we suggest a door donation of £2 for members and £3 for non members, just turn up and enjoy.
Members have been involved with the provision of information, photographs and articles on many different projects. These include four books, preservation of artefacts, living histories, audio, films, family histories and excavations. We have a growing collection of invaluable local archives including documents, audio, film, letters, photographs, postcards, musical instruments, flags, newspaper cuttings, industrial items and stone pipes to name a few.
We are committed to saving any local items for our future generations and welcome all donations to the society, at present there more than 1000 items available for research and copying.
You do not need to live locally to join the society and the yearly subscription is still very modest at £5.
